Cleveland, South Carolina
It was fun to take Traveler on a weekend adventure to the Up-Country of SC… nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. An area that is not far from the NC/SC state line. We camped in Cleveland, South Carolina. Just got on the road that morning and just headed that way. Found a campground along the way – actually the first one I found online. Palmetto Cove was its name. The people who owned it were very nice folks.
Table Rock and Caesars Head are places I went to when I was younger with my family. I have very vivid memories of going to each. It was wonderful to get back. Both mountains are extremely beautiful and all the surrounding areas as well.
I’ve said it before and will always say it… I love where I live and feel very blessed. Just down the road from me… beauty that awaits. I love living in the foothills. There are so many places I want to see in America but there are still places I long to go to just 2 hours from me. To go take the time to learn all I can about them and see all I can see from them.
I love camping (tent & camper) and hiking. I’m absolutely IN LOVE with all State Parks and National Parks. We always try to go to as many as we can. No better way to spend weekends.
And what a weekend for PERFECT weather we had..
Merle & Maggie. Merle’s first trip! He had fun. He did okay too.
The lovely view as we pulled into the campground. Blue skies and Blue Ridge Mountain range. Yes, please.
We hit the road for lunch. Wanted something local. Just rode until we found something. Found a neat gem on the highway in Pumpkintown, South Carolina. Had a great lunch. Enjoyed the surroundings.
There are many gorgeous views of Table Rock. This was one of many we saw and I photographed. And look at Kel’s sexy truck. Like a rock.. literally.
Stopped in at Aunt Sue’s.
First time I’ve used their new pen. They liked it or accepted it. Lol. Nice to have something for them to enjoy being outside and not have to be on their leash. Or stuck in the camper.
I think. And I wonder what we will do when we turn 70?! Baha!
So it’s not a secret – I want one of these. I call it Project Homemade Curtains. Kelley use to be like uh, no. But I think he is slowly changing. I want one because I think they are BEAUTIFUL and my kind of functional. But I also want one I can gut out and make a project out of it. We were parked next to 3 of them at Palmetto Cove. Swoon. I got to go in one of them after striking up a conversation with the owners. Yes, I was hoping they would ask me and they did.
The Blue Ridge Mountain view I had every time I took the doggies to pee and poop!
What other better combo is there besides mountains and the coast? South Carolina has both. Get out and enjoy ’em!
Breakfast. Best meal of the day.
From the top of Caesars Head.
“Get lost in the right direction.” Down the road at Bald Rock. Incredible view. Serenity.
Love can overcome all. Yes it can.
Beautiful roses hanging on the side of the road that Kelley saw. Had to turn around. They were gorgeous. You don’t see roses hanging like this very often.. not on the side of the road.
Table Rock State Park. We went on the Carrick Creek Falls trail. We decided to only hike part of the way since we had to go fishing at Lake Oolenoy afterward and then get back to camp to grill out for supper. Plan to go back to hike to the top. Lots of awesome trails to pick from.
Bought Kelley all new fishing gear for his birthday. Was nice to finally get a chance to go fishing.
SPF 100. I swear by it.
I picked up my South Carolina State Park guide while at Caesars Head. Got two stamps out of the way. Our goal is to check/stamp all SC state parks off the list. And that would be a Tulip Poplar flower. They are common around here. Seen them hiking up in the NC mountains too.
